Fill the domestic gap! Success in the localization research and development project of ultra-low temperature butterfly valves

On April 3-4, in Yichang, Hubei, led by the Construction Project Management Branch of the National Pipeline Network Group, the "42" Class150, 28 "Class150 Three Eccentric Ultra Low Temperature Butterfly Valve" jointly developed by Longkou LNG Receiving Station and Hubei Taihe Petrochemical Equipment Co., Ltd. successfully passed the national production appraisal. The appraisal committee believes that the large-diameter triple eccentric ultra-low temperature butterfly valve developed by Hubei Taihe has independent intellectual property rights, filling the domestic gap, and its main technical indicators have reached the advanced level of similar international products. Among them, the sealing performance is better than foreign products, and it can be promoted and used in LNG receiving stations.

The party committee of the construction project management company actively responds to the group company's party group's goal of vigorously developing the localization of key equipment and materials, and fully promotes the localization research and development of key equipment. In response to the high demand for butterfly valves above 28 inches in LNG receiving stations, long-term dependence on imported brands, huge construction and operation costs, and long supply cycles of imported products, which seriously restrict the rapid development of LNG receiving station construction, the construction project management company actively promotes the localization research and application of low-temperature butterfly valves. During the development process, the research group strictly focused on the quality of valves and accessories, and appointed a supervision unit to conduct on-site supervision of the entire valve development process. In response to problems such as repair welding and spot welding of the valve body, the manufacturer was required to directly purchase and replace it. It was proposed to upgrade the integrated casting valve cover to A182 F316 material forgings, and to change the welding connection method of the extension rod to overall casting; Before organizing the new product appraisal, the Material Procurement Department entrusts the flight inspection unit to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the valve quality and supervision performance again and make rectification within a specified period to ensure the smooth convening of this localization appraisal meeting.

At the appraisal meeting, experts issued factory test witness reports and data review reports, believing that the submitted technical materials are complete, standardized, and meet the appraisal requirements; The product has completed room temperature performance tests (including strength, sealing, torque, and dissipation), low temperature performance tests (including sealing, torque, and dissipation), and room temperature/low temperature alternating cycle life tests. The results comply with the requirements of the National Pipeline Network Group's "Technical Specification for Localization of Key Valves for Liquefied Natural Gas" and "Factory Test Outline for Localization of Key Valves for Liquefied Natural Gas" and related standards.

The successful development of domestically produced large-sized three eccentric ultra-low temperature butterfly valves has greatly reduced the investment and construction cycle of the receiving station. Compared to imported butterfly valves of the same specification and function, a single unit saves about 60% in cost and a 40% reduction in supply cycle. Only 16 42 inch butterfly valves in Longkou LNG Phase I project can save 20.8 million RMB in capital.

The success of this appraisal meeting marks a breakthrough in foreign technical barriers for domestically produced large-diameter ultra-low temperature butterfly valves, effectively avoiding foreign procurement risks, improving the construction and operation support capabilities of the LNG receiving station industry, and having significant effects on cost reduction and efficiency increase in the construction of LNG receiving stations. It also has profound significance for revitalizing national industries and cultivating professional talent teams.
